Units arrived this am 0700 so had to have a quick play befor going afloat.
I am so far very impressed ,very easy to use . I think they make an excellent addition to my other sets giving us a total of 6 in all.
Am running a course Wednesday so will give student feed back .

I used mine on a course for the first time yesterday - students thought they were great - nice big, clear screen on such a small unit. Having all the buttons on the handmike makes a big difference too. Can spend less time on teachig em how the sets work and more on practical voice/DSC alerting training.

I think most are finding that the use of the live radio simulators is so much better than the PC simulators.
When I was teaching on Saturday I had both on.
As normal we did not use the PC sims at all.
All of the students commented on the use of "real" radio's makes the whole concept much easier to grasp.
Whilst there has been some grumbles from some instructors about having to buy these once they have them and have used them they are coverted.
Not heard anyone say to date that they are no good after using them.
Regards

I'm just waiting on mine. I've got a pair of icoms, and a pair of navmans I'm waiting for, so I'll let you know which go best.

The RYA have now bought some for the SRC Assesors course so they must be good ! Nice to see the competition on the market and good idea of Solent Ranger's to get them adapted.

Currently working on having the Silva S15 adpated - this is the one with the built in Navtex. It would be nice to use it to show students live Navtex. The adpatation only removes the tx part, not the receiving.

Our Silvas arrived this morning- Thanks Dave
We Got 10 live sets now, (6 simrads, 2 icoms and 2 silvas). I dont need to tell you all which sets are best, come on a course and you can decide for yourself.
