A third grade of membership?
There is probably no demand for it, but just thought I would throw it out there...
I have in the past been a trade member but found that it can be perceived as a sign that a member is not necessarily on here to contribute first and foremost.
For me I am here for the banter, the horizon broadening experience sharing and some excellent insight into that world that is RIBs. If I can help find the right bit of kit for a fellow member then great, if they choose to buy it from me then even better but the latter is the 3rd priority.
So, my question to the panel is: Is there room for a third grade of membership?
Perhaps a smidge more expensive than Trade,
Perhaps with join date or postings criteria,
Perhaps having to be nominated.

I nominate Malthouse to be our first new elite member and to pay more than the rest of us for the privilege

Surely nominated elite members, premier perhaps, should be paid for by whip round?
I think I suggested this a year ago when my subs came up.

There used to be several levels of paid membership, but I decided a while ago to make things simpler.
I am always open to suggestions though (especially when accompanied by a cash incentive) and will be very happy to create a special vanity category of your choosing. How much more than a Trade Membership would you like to pay? What title would you like?

I'm toying with the same idea over on my own Irish forum.
My thoughts are that a friendly helpful "Trade member" is a huge asset to the forum membership and should not be charged more.
Maybe allow them to gather Brownie Points and after say 50 or 100 point be elected to a Super Trade membership. Trade Friend / Trusted Trader etc... Some kine of title that indicates that they are active Forum contributers as well as being in the trade?
Kind regards,
Stuart

The best idea I could come up with was RIB.net Promoter, but the definition is going to be too hard to police by my reckoning.
Some forums have systems for thanks or similar point scoring, which might be an interesting concept. None of the forums I regularly use have the system though so I do not know.
Anyroadup, Trade it is for me. Just need to save up the beer vouchers now.

I thought my disguise would stop you from taking the pees, how wrong was I.
What do you think? Channel Ribs... A bit more descriptive than being named after a brew shed?

Not really seeing as you are currently boatless . How about an interim 'Channel No-rib'.
You might want to correct the typo in your address on your new home page.
