Adverts on RibNet
I am not too happy how the adverts are now being presented on Ribnet . Ever so often I now find an advert promoting another brand of ribs on my post . Is this really necessary? I would have thought that there is enough space around the site for this without having to high jack ones post. I pay a trade membership fee but not to see another rib manufacturers advert above my signature. No hard feelings to those whose adverts are being posted but this is not on.

It only seems to happen when I'm not "logged in".
However, If I was a paying trade member I'd be pretty pissed off with it as well!

Yes just checked and it only happens when I am not logged in so the adverts must be there when others are looking at my posts and they are not logged in

It shouldn't affect Trade Members or Supporters, and I've referred it upstairs to get sorted out. This was the outcome when it was first discussed a couple of years ago:

Sorry but no one should have adverts, they have no knowledge about, placed in their signature area as if to say they are endorsing a particular product.

Thats the way VB (this particular forum software) works .. if your logged out you see the lot, its dependent on cookies in your browser IIRC.. as to what you see .. so if you have RIBs in your other searches it throws up adverts of that similar kind. With certain browsers you can keep on deleting cookies which might help , but it wont change what others see ofcourse. On the otherhand google (if thats the provider) does allow you to exclude certain advertisers or groups of them, but I fear John your best policy is to modify your terms
Andre ... this is a very well resourced, and content rich forum .. I'd suggest your outlays are actually good value for the exposure your fee gets you .. my suggestion is that whilst the content of competitors irks you, the value of your very informative posts does nothing but help you, and I dont think you have anything to worry about.... This is ofcourse just my opinion

OK, this should be resolved now. Let me know if you get any more problems. Thanks for the heads up!

I see what you mean, I've just logged on as general public, I've got secondhand ribs for sale attached to some of my posts, funny thing is they are for JBT, that must grip him a bit being under me
