Android - no profile details
I am sometimes access rib net on my PC and sometimes on my iPhone, and on both of these, if I click on the member who has posted a comment, I can see their profile details.
However I sometimes look at ribnet on my Android Nexus 7, and this does not seem to bring up any of the member profile details when I click the name. In fact I have not found a way to access them at all.
Is this just me being dumb, or is it a problem with the Android app?

No avatars or anything.
There are quite a few things the android app doesn't do!

Just tested* in the Android App. If you tap the 'avatar' beside the name of the poster (even if it is the blank avatar) it takes you to a brief profile (no posts, link to other posts, link to PM etc). Unlikely the web version you won't see their location, boat name etc even if they have added it. I don't think this is a bug - simple a feature of the site which is not supported in the App. I'm surprised if the iOS version does support more detail though?
* there is a small possibility that I see something different from the rest of you.

The Apps aren't made by ribnet/social knowledge they are just rebadged forum runner. The do what they need to do pretty well. I guess if I was at forum runner I'd be asking the question - would you pay (£4.99?) for a pro app offered coloured text, smileys, better avatar support, detailed profile pages etc...
...I'll hazard a guess that for most people the answer is no!

Hi poly.
Your right you can see it occasionally but not often.
Then there is hardly any info.
It's the same with pictures people post on the threads.
Might be lucky and see them but mostly they are blank.
Can maybe see them 1 in every 6 logins etc

I have no problem with the android app.
Just accepted its not perfect and I will need to re check threads every evening if I want so see the finer details.
It's good for keeping track of a thread though

I think the pics are just *REALLY* slow to load. If you are using 3G rather than Wifi it is obviously even worse.

Well of course it's 3g on a phone mainly.

In that case I might hazard a guess at the avatar being the same issue. If the image is large it takes a long time to load and possibly its not caching the images and is pulling down the 'full size' image rather than a thumb.

The IOS app definitely does it better. If you tap the avatar on my iPhone, it brings up all the data in the "additional Info", including location, boat length / type, occupation etc. Sometimes it is nice to see who is posting stuff, where they come from, and what sort of boat they have.
You are right, a five-quid app would put many people off, and I think rib net is great. So not so much a moan, more of a comment! Keep up the good work!

I agree with the sentiment. Ribnet is great!
Is the ios app only for I phone?
I know a few people who have thrown there I phone away and changed to a Samsung like mine because of the extra and excessive costs. I think for downloads etc.
I have never had one but that's what they say
