Can we have a safety forum please JK?

We have Ribbing, Towing, Electronics, Engines, Cruising and Racing.

I would like to ask a question about safety equipment, but where do I put it?

Safety has been a really popular theme lately and though most of it has been born from a tale about a trip (ie Ribs and Ribbing forum) I wonder if a dedicated forum is a good idea.

By the way, the recent trend here is reflected nationally. Sales of safety equipment are breaking all records.

Since Safety is particularly important/relevant to all of us is RIBs and Ribbing not the best place for it? Surely the reason for having 'sub forums' is so that stuff that is not relevant or of interest to some people can be ignored easily.

It would cover generic stuff that applies to both RIBs and SIBs so a section on it own would be useful.
A Searider section would be good too whilst your at it.

As You know.
I have frequented the YBW mobo forum on the odd accasion!
There was a thread on there recently ref too many Forums.
Some seem to think another one would fragment the Forum.

Do you think there would be enough 'traffic' to warrant another one on here?

I dunno
Just asking

Would it be worth a Poll/ Vote thinghie?

I too have noticed a greater awareness of late ref Safety etc

Sign of the times I suppose
Nontheless, nowt wrong with that

I asked JK about this a while ago and he was reluctant to seperate it out due to the number of sub forums already in existence - but you never know he might change his mind

I'd be all for a Searider forum, JK might even get associated advertising from Woodies and Homebase on the strength of it.

As regards the Safety Forum, why not? It could have a section on "Problematic Listing", aka "PLB Bulk Buys"

Oooooo, like I would.

Well, thanks for all the comments. I do not mind either way - just a thought.

I shall post my safety related post in the ribbers forum, if someone complains then point then here.

No! No SR forum, and no silly engine forums.

Seariders are clearly RIBs and covered by the RIBs and RIBbing forum.

Safety gear is not just limited to electronics, a shock to some I know. There is a whole liferaft of topics that regularly come up and it might help the newcomer to find them if they are listed under such a sensible heading?

Auxiliary Motors,
Sea Anchors,
Lifejackets,
Sea Survival Course...

Etc etc

This was what I said "I'm always wary of adding too many new sections. There's certainly plenty of discussion about safety issues, but I'm not convinced that they are separate enough from the general ribbing discussion to make a separate section a good idea."

It's not the number of sections that's the problem in itself, but whether it's something that can be properly separated. There are some threads that would happily sit in a "Safety" section, but I reckon that there are more that could equally end up in "Safety" or "RIBS and ribbing" which would rather defeat the object.

it's safe to say that a safety section should safely left where it is, safely with the safety minded people who safely go about there ribbing in complete safety
