Hence, on most forums i am party to, the member and the mod use separate accounts so you know when the post is a personal or admin related one.
Now i have been told about the new rules after they had been enforced. Still an PM would have been nice.

It's quite clear that the discussion about air shows has nothing to do with any admin issues.

We don't send PMs when posts are deleted. Frankly it's normally pretty easy to work out the reason and we've all got better things to do. This was an unusual case though, and I should probably have left your post until I had published the amended guidelines. Sorry.

You've been here for 5 yrs and its never been that way here (to be honest I don't know of any forums which are that way). However for the avoidance of doubt if I am posting in "Moderator Mode" it will usually be absolutely obvious and if not I'll expressly say so. It probably only happens 3 times a year in public at most!

I prefer to think of it as moving his car out of the way while I painted the yellow lines. He was understandably a bit confused when he couldn't find the car
