Is RIBnet poorly
I have been having more issues with pages not loading and Server errors with RIBnet this week and last week than any other time - and its worst today.
Are there issues with the server ?
Is anyone else having problems ? - or is it just me ?
The site will be fine and then all of a sudden pages wont load at all or I get a message something along the lines of "There is a slight error with the server".

Yes I have found it rather slow as well - often needs multiple attempts to get to a page.

Johnny Rocket probably needs to put another 50p in the meter.
Knowing him, it'll be on a string so he can get it back out again.

It's worse than that. I've got a whole pile of 50p's and they've "upgraded" the meter to take pound coins!
No particular problems at the moment. There have been a couple of brief hiccups on the SQL server though, and there was a network problem yesterday which was sorted pretty quickly.
I'll keep an eye on things.
John

Well the server's on your side of the pond, but it's in Florida so it's pretty much midway between you and the UK!

You just need to tighten up the string between the bean tins!

OK there was definitely a hiccup this afternoon! I have now got a whole stack of pound coins for the meter, and upgraded to a dual hamster installation
Actually the problem was with the connection to the mySQL server. I'm waiting to hear what the actual problem was, but at least it's fixed for now!

Anyone who has tried to access the members list will have noticed that it takes an eternity to load. I haven't got to the bottom of this, but it looks like it might be the culprit so I have deactivated it for now to see if that improves things.
RIBnet is on a shared server (still hanging on for as long as I can before jumping to a dedicated machine!) and when any site starts to have an adverse effect on other sites it is temporarily disabled.
There have been a number if incidents where the database connection has been suspended temporarily which had caused brief periods where the forums weren't accessible. Yetserday there appears to have been a glitch with the reactivation system, so we were left with no forums until I alerted the hosting company. They quickly sorted it out, and send their apologies!
Let me know how things work for you over the next few days.
Thanks
John
