New Forum Qustion

I am not very active on here, however, I do show up from time to time.
Sometimes I want to ask a generic question and have to decide where to put it - RIB or SIB, to get the most viewers.

It would be nice if there was a generic Inflatables forum in addition to RIB's and SIB's where we can ask general questions that relate to both, for example, my new thread today was in regards to adding D-Rings to the tubes. Since my post was in reference to my SIB, I posted it in the SIB forum. I would have also liked to post it in the RIB forum but I didn't want to duplicate.

I just thought that it would be nice if the RIB Forum was for questions that were specifically related only to RIBs and the same for the SIB forum with questions related only to SIBs. Then a third forum that would be more of a general inflatable forum that would be used for questions that would be common to both. such as the tubes.

Just a thought

Does that not just dilute the audience because they may not check all 2 or 3 fora?

I'd have posted in RIB! I'd only post SIB stuff in SIB that only related to SIB and not RIB. The RIB one I'd say is RIB plus anything general...

Someone will be along in a minute to say they'd do the opposite!

Nope, I'm with you on this one.

Ideally if it applies equally to both then it's best off in "RIBs and ribbing" and only things that are SIB specific should go in "Inflatable boats".

I don't think it's particularly big deal though to be honest, and threads generally seem to end up in the right place. I appreciate the thought though, and if anyone does think that threads are in the wrong section then please let the admin team know using the "Report thread" icon and we can easily move them.

I wouldn't think it would dilute the audience in total numbers. It would just shift things around.
There are a lot of general questions that in the present state require looking at both the RIB and SIB forums to find the latest info on things like tubes, dinghy davits, how to glue or clean, etc.

This would be along the same lines of the "RIBnet Europe" and the "RIBnet North America" forums.
