If you guys can just check your User CP again to make sure that radio selection is at "Off". It could also be a cache issue, and you may see it revert back in a few hours. If for some reason it continues later tonight and you for sure have it set to off, let me know.

Radio Button not working for me I get this

You did not enter the correct format for the Apparently pointless question field. Please read the field description for the expected format.

That is the response if you left a question farther up in that page blank. Check that entire page for the "Apparently Pointless Question" field. I didn't add that, but it looks like some sort of anti-spam question.

Well the new VB software has side blocks on the right .. maybe they are warming you old guys up .. but you can turn them off in the new software too, very easily just by clicking on them

It is. It's only really intended to affect new registrations, but anyone who registered before that extra field was added will need to fill it in before they can save any changes to their options. The answer's boat by the way

Sorry for the surprise...

Over the next few days the board will be upgraded to newer software and there are some added features on the horizon. Please pardon the dust as this update is underway. You will see a variety of changes or partial changes as we work through this.

One big change will be an updated look for the header. Another as you have noted is the recent discussions feed in the right column. While you will be able to disable this, I think you'll find that you will actually like this feature - it makes it much easier to find new content.

The new right column can be a great addition and will have some other features as well.

I've had a sneak preview of the new header design and it's looking good. I am also talking to the development team to try to ensure that changes don't just happen randomly without any warning!

Well done John.

Obviously with the amount of effort you put in over the years you understand us lot better than anyone. We are grateful by the way for the work you've done.

I suggest the new team don't treat us like a bunch of idiots they want to make money out of, and remember we are the people that keep the forum going and can make sure it won't work for them if they don't respect us.

Nasher.

Nasher.

This was a mistake pure and simple at this end. There are several folks involved in the update, programmers, graphics gurus, etc. Signals got crossed and I apologize. There should have been some notice. There was no lack of respect intended - just a mix up at this end. We'll try to do better.

Does this "upgrade" include updating this forums software to the newer vBulletin software?

If so, it might be worth/fair to warn users how buggy and gremlin riddled the newer vBulletin versions are!

While there will be a vB update, it will not be to the latest version. I agree it's buggy but there have been many updates since the version currently running and I think you've find it an improvement. Most of the posting interface will be the same, but we will have increased security and a few more features available for members.

Works well for me now anyway, thanks to those that put in the work behind the scenes, as a moderator on another forum I know that it is sometimes like the proverbial swan, everything looks serene on the surface but there's a lot thrashing around underneath to make it go forwards
