Regime change
As many regular RIBnet members will be aware, until now RIBnet has been run as a benevolent dictatorship. Things are changing slightly, but don't worry there's no plan to go hurtling headlong into a democracy. That would be ridiculous!
I am very pleased to announce that RIBnet is now part of the Social Knowledge online community network. Not much will change, except I shall now rule as a benevolent oligarch instead.
RIBnet's new owner owner, Andy Robinowitz (aka Andy R), will be around here some of the time and has some interesting RIB cruising plans that I'm sure he'll tell you about. He also has a small team of people who work behind the scenes on administration and technical stuff so you'll have someone new to complain to about the members list not working, upgrades, avatars, forgotten passswords and that sort of thing. They got off to an excellent start last week by quickly sorting out the problems with the Members List!
The existing dedicated team of RIBnet housekeepers will be rewarded by having their pay increased a hundred fold. They may even get some new oligarching jobs and a smart uniform. In the meantime I get to carry on as usual, except without any of the hassly bits.
Thanks to everyone who has made RIBnet what it is today, and long may it continue.

Nevermind that-I'm waiting to find out what a hundredfold pay increase and a new uniform means.
I'm hoping it doesn't mean Polwart dressed as Angus Young...

Hey there...
It's a pleasure to partner with RIBnet and include this outstanding community as part of our little network of forums. I've been lurking here for a while and look forward to filling my brain with lot of RIB knowledge so I can make an informed decision on what kind of RIB to get and enjoy the coast here in Southern Brazil.
As John mentioned we will be able to enjoy the best of both worlds, we get to take over the software upgrades, database backups, server security, iPhone & Android app development and other technical tasks while John and the crew will continue to lead the community just like in the past.
You will see some of the people I work with around here including Janet H and Tech Admin. Janet helps me with various odds and ends and Tech Admin (Jeff) is the account our programmer uses.
In the near future we have a few upgrades on the way. We are planning to upgrade to the 3.8.x version of vBulletin software. For those of you who care, we probably won't be upgrading to version 4.x since it's still chocked full or bugs. We had an iPhone & Android app created which will be available for FREE. It's a very simple and fast app that give you access on the go and a great way to attach pics of your RIB and cruises this spring and summer. I think we should also consider installing a system so you can build profile pages for your boats (on auto forums they call this feature a garage). We'll be hanging out and listing to what you all want and throwing out some ideas to see if you think they would be good additions to the site.
I look forward to meeting you all in the years to come.
Andy R

Welcome Andy
An iPhone app sounds great, my only hope is that the forum doesn't become to cluttered with gimmicky stuff, I don't like stuff that's more complicated than it needs to be

The iPhone app is available already. Just search for "Rigid Inflatable" in the app store and you will find it. In one of the next releases we will update the text so you can search for RIBnet.
The Android app is also available but don't have that bar code thing to post yet. If any Android users find the barcode thing, please post it here as image so others can scan it load the app.
We will setup a page with all the details on how to find both soon.
@martini - We will keep things quite simple.
@willk - I can ban too but the team will continue just like in the past.

Lovely part of Brazil you live in. I've stayed in Santos and worked in Sao Paulo and Campinas.

Searching for RIBnet worked fine for me via the app store on my phone
Haven't tried via the evil iTunes though.
