The new RIBnet trade directory
For far too long I have been promising a new RIBnet trade directory. As many people have noticed, the original directory has not been updated for a long time, and is consequently incomplete and inaccurate.
At last the new system is just about ready to go. Before I make a big announcement about it and email everyone who is waiting to be included on it I would be very grateful if some of you could have a look at it, add some entries and generally let me know how you get on.
It's at www.rib.net/directory
If you have a real company to enter then please go ahead and add it to the relevant category, otherwise feel free to make something up in the "just testing" category which will eventually be deleted.
So, what do you think?
Thanks
John

John,
Looks good, i think I would find it very useful. Is this a similar kind of thing to what I was blabbering on about in a PM i sent you not long ago?
Would each company have a bit of space to list current offers or whatever, or is it purely a means by which to search for a company on RIBnet and obtain contact details?
Cheers
Tim

Each entry can have a short description, similar to the current system.
Once the new system is fully operational though, advertisers will be able to upgrade to a premium entry with more space for information and pictures.

Maybe risky, but how about a rating system like on ebay? Or you could award rosettes or something for companies that are specifically aimed at the rib market as opposed to general chandlers.

It looks very professional and everything I clicked on worked!
I think this will be a very valuable addition to RIBnet. Well done!

It's something I have considered, but it's hard to do well and pointless if not done well . . .
I've still got it in mind for a future upgrade though

I guess this'll be handy for sourcing everything needed for the 'RIBnet project boat' (except the seats, of course) .
Any progress with it yet, John?

Good for you Andre. Great when people contribute to the site as trade members.

Once again, a well-thought out winner JK.

It's good to see the trade members getting in first!
Just for the record though, free entry to the directory is open to everyone -- trade member or not. I will (inevitably!) be offering "Trade Plus" and "Sponsor" memberships with enhanced directory entries in the near future though

aha! I was going to ask whether non trade members were allowed to post but thought i would look stupid!
I would like to add one about Photography services but there isn't a category :-( Would it be too cheeky to ask for a new category under "services" to be added?
The directory looks even better now people have added entries!
Cheers
Tim

I have added a catch-all "other" category under services which I hope will be OK for you!

A quick look at the directory would confirm this!
