Trouble with Paypal subscription payment

I'm having a bit of trouble getting Ribnet/Social Knowledge to accept my Paypal payment for my 'supporter' subscription. They obviously don't like the colour of my lucre. It is set to automatically make a payment but keeps sending me an email after intermittent attempts stating it's failed as I don't have a back-up funding source. But I do! . I've changed it to my debit card as a funding source but it still won't play ball. My Paypal balance happens to be diddly squat ATM but I can't see how that makes a difference.

To correct this problem, you must update your funding source to be a debit or credit card.

Please change the funding source for this Subscription by clicking this link and following the steps below:
https://www.paypal.com/uk/cgi-bin/?c...lknowledge.com
1. Click the link above to go to log in and go to your Subscription Details.
2. Under 'Subscription Funding Source' choose a credit card funding source from one of the drop-downs.

If there are no other funding sources available, add a new credit card:

3. Click the 'Profile' subtab
4. Choose the 'Credit Cards' link from the Financial Information column
5. Click 'Add'
6. Follow the on-screen instructions to add a new credit card to your PayPal account

Are you sure that email is coming from Paypal? Try going to paypal.com - some of the scams are getting very clever now!

I'm very careful of being caught out on scams, but this one seems to be genuine and the link is not a clever hidden one taking me to some dodgy spoof paypal site, but to the real site. I will have to contact Paypal and ask them what the problem is.

Agree with the above about the genuine looking paypal spoofs doing the rounds plus ebay ones saying there's a problem!! I usually forward them on to their spoof sites & it always says they're scams!
Never open them as they can infect your computer even with anti-virus !!
Have you tried going direct to your paypal account to send the payment?

Erin, I see a record of the failure in the logs but am not sure why there's a problem. Looking into this and will send you a PM.

Ok, thanks Janet. My Paypal account says the transaction completed on the 6th, but the emails suggest otherwise. Paypal have also snatched the money from my bank account today - so perhaps all is now ok.
