I appreciate there will be fewer posts because of the time of year, but I can't recall it being as quiet as this over the past few autumn's & winters.

I too had noticed that, but I hadn't made the connection and put two and two together.

Anyway Dave, you've not answered a very important question - are you taking orders? Those sausages looked bloody good

Missing the app here. Crazy decision to drop it without a replacement and the mobile view option on the main site is a piss poor alternative.
As I've said I didn't use the app which probably put me in the minority, but I think it's demise has had an impact.

Didn't even know there was one, but still always browsed it just fine on my iPhone.

Yeah, but then you have to post stuff on landrover forums, and they're a different breed!

(I have a 1989 Factory V8 90 with a 3.9efi in)

IMVHO, there's a lot of people, on all forums, that consume rather than create.

There's a "nobody's posting" vibe - and yet - post something then. (Not meant as a comment to you - but to all the observers. ) Tell us what you've been up to on the boat, tell us what jobs you're going to do over the winter or what epic adventures are planned for next summer. That's what creates the community - and we are all boat geeks, so it's all good.

I'd like to do a round the IOW trip next summer. And may even a cross channel day trip (there and back in a day). 66 nm to Cherbourg from Nab Tower. 2 hours 15 minutes each way @ 30 knots? Probably go from Bembridge for that. What could possibly go wrong!

I've never had a problem uploading pics, but they are always at the end of the post and not with wraparound text.
I'm assuming Matt, that you use a picture hosting site to upload your pictures from?

Only for convenience, but yes. You're right, you can't upload pics directly from the iPhone - and that would be a great thing if it could be made to work.

I tend to use my own wordpress site for pics.

…….and that’s exactly what you could do on the app.

Losing the app is pants!

So. JK, Poly.

Official enhancement request please, what's required to enable pic uploading from iPhones.

Happy to be a guinea pig to help test anything out.

(I have PM'd John too)

That’s way above the pay grade of the mod team but I’ve referred it upstairs and will let you know when I hear anything.

It might be as simple as the filename extension. iPhones upload .jpeg (instead of .jpg) files - so might just need to add .jpeg to the allowed file extensions. I reckon a normal admin can have a go at tweaking that setting, no code changes required......

Iphones are now using the HEIC format by default. When I uploaded my sausage photos (ooerr missus) I had to email them from phone to laptop & then save as *.JPG on the laptop, then upload to Ribnet. What a palaver!! Previously, the app dealt with it, no problems.

Interesting - I also have pics on my phone as heic - but when just uploading to rib.net, it appears to attempt to upload a .jpeg, and that's when it complains. And that pic is definately an heic "at source".

Exactly. Just bring the app back or sort out out a new one.

It wasn’t just the photo malarkey, although that’s the major issue, the app was far more intuitive on the phone. Easier to read text, quick navigation around site, and the new posts folder didn’t dump them after each day.

The current situation is a real retrograde step.

Really, it needs an upgrade from vBulletin version 3 to 5 or 6.

Ive done a few refurb threads over the years and each one has had less and less member interaction on them as time goes on.

It may well be the quality of the content in them but other people have had some cracking refurb threads on here with very little commenting/questions from members.

Ill be honest and say the "craic" just isnt here anymore, there seemed to be some bitching and moaning a while back and it never really repaired itself, chuck the odd party arsehole in for good measure and everything loses its shine.

Just my tuppence.
