150hp Yamaha V6 2 Stroke

I have a quick question, I have recently bought a 6.7m Excalibur fitted with a 150hp 2 stroke Yamaha v6, Flat out im getting a healthy 44knots and seams to cruise nicely at 3400rpm pushing her at 25kts, What kind of fuel consumption would I be expecting at cruising/full speed. Im planning a 34nm round trip in the next week and would love to know before hand what I should be expecting. The boat has a Navman fuel 3100 but doesnt seem to want to turn on, blank screen but when i do push the buttons it makes a beep noise, might be dampness? Only had the boat a few days and want to know how much this thing is going to cost me on fuel, cheers guys

Nice one Andrew! Those Yammies were supposed to be sore on juice (for a 2-stroke) Your trip will be an ideal oppo for you to work out the consumption under your driving habits. There will be lots of spare capacity in the tank so fill her up before and after and let us know how you got on. Thanks to Noonan, there was no rise in fuel duty and no excuse to save money - so nicely timed on your part.

Navman gear is at least as troublesome as the rest. I'd wig it out and check all the connections and open/dry the unit out before replacing and testing again.

Best of luck with her!

Conservatively expect a minimum of 10% fuel consumption per total HP, 15 gal/hour at wot, but in real world outings could rise up to 12% easily...

Happy Boating

Congratulations on your new purchase Andrew, great to see you stayed with Excalibur, though I thought you'd have gone for a diesel stern drive. Must drop down to see it next season.
Happy Ribbing,
Pluto2.

I have a Mariner 150 V6 2 stroke. Normal cruising at say 3500 to 4000rpm gives about 1ltr per mile

well wear on the new craft.
I used to run a Yam 150 ox66, with the fuel management clock (in this case better not to know!)
75l/hour at full chat.
35/40l /hour cruising at 3800rpm

They sound great though when underway and easy to live with from a maintenance perspective.

Results are in!!

I got the Navman fuel 3100 working (thanks youtube) and im able to see what she is burning.

At full throttle im burning 70lt/hr doing 44kts

On the cruise (3800rpm) im doing 25kts and burning 30lt/hr

At 3200rpm im doing 20kts and burning 27lt/hr....It looks like 25kts and 3800rpm is my happy speed!

I must say its nice to have the fuel comp working, I have burnt over 350lts in the last 2weeks, This summer rocks!!
