30 Hp and under is a Tohatsu, mercury only makes the verado, the rest are joint ventures

Yes some early Merc/mariner are YAMI, I need serial number

Thats not quite right, it could be a Mercury based engine aswell. Mercury still build a lot more than just the verado. The new 150EFI for example.

Indeed, the above info is incorrect. From memory it's all the sub 40hp engines which are rebadged Tohatsus. Everything else is made by Mercury.

Shaun, post a photo of the engine so we can see what is it. Earlier 15hp Mercs were indeed made by Yamaha, but that ended in the early 90s. They were made by Mercury for a while, and now Tohatsu.

The only newer outboard mercury solely 4 stroke invented was the verado, the rest were handed to them, yes them might put it together and cast it, but the engineers did not come up with it, it's in my factory USA training
Optimax, that's from new Zealand

The verado was developed along with Lotus, Cosworth and Porsche, so does that mean its not a merc?

No way, the 4 cylinder block four stroke 80/100/115hp is Mercury as is the 40/50/60hp four stroke. Nothing to do with Twatsoo.
