I would be as I need some more power but probably a bit early for my finances to allow. Working some improvements on my Rib, which is the same as yours I think ... Humber ocean pro 6.3m? We have a 140hp Suzuki from 2004 but I think a 175 or 200 would be better. Going through some improvements over the next year, sorting out the hull, getting flexi teak, building a custom sunbathing area on the bow and then at some point looking for a new engine.

Hopefully you find a buyer for your 175 though, sounds a good machine! Perhaps post more photos of it and a video if you have one?

Anytime you are on the south coast boating give me a shout, would be great to meet up and see your new but with 200hp! An Ocean Pro cruise perhaps...

The tarty bits can wait & be done anytime. Good low hours engines are harder to find, grab em while you can.

Any offer considered... Cheers all - yeah it’s coming off next week and being brought back to Chester. Will then advertise it. Shame nobody on here wants it, proper reliable engine. Other than a chafing wire a few years back, it’s been faultless, and we aren’t after top dollar at all!!! Bargain to be had.

It’s more the means to buy it than not wanting it unfortunately, I’m sure you will find someone to buy it, looks great!

They’re just over £10k new. With condition and hours I suspect it’s worth £3k-£4K But make an offer.

Weight...

Hi there, we have the same base boat, 6.3m (2.34m beam) ocean pro, mine is from 2004. On mine it says 200hp Max hp and 200kg max weight, Humber’s website seems to say the same hp but a higher weight limit now, just wondered whether yours was same as mine, eg limited to 200kg? Can see any 200hps less than 200kg, lightest is Yamaha at 227kg ... can’t see any 175s under that weight limit for that matter ...

175hp Optimax for sale

Not sure actually - don’t think ours is limited to 200kg, but the new 200 Merc is only circa 206kg

Nearly all other 175s or 200s are way over - G2s, Yams, Verados, Honda. All much lardier.

I think exceeding the power is a bigger factor in transom limits due to the forces created laterally - I may be wrong.

Interesting thought ..Upgraded Power isn't IMO AS big a problem as overloaded Dead weight on the Transom bang on the extremity of Craft....
Water mostly givesway when you push against/through it with a pointy Bow...... And Most well built RIB's will take in thier stride a LOT more than the Human element can endure in Rough weather.
Gravity though is pretty constant ...and doesn't let up!..apart from potentially upsetting the whole balance of your (entire) RIG! ....(Plenty have and Do) with the cantilever effect of an over weighted Transum and with the way most RIbs are (and designed to be) driven ie..Wave Jumping and taking on adverse conditions, the forces are considerable and on the Transom ...just where you don't want them!
Having said that Compared to even the relatively recent past on most pleasure water craft (especially RIBs) Power to length and consequently performance ( and stresses) have gone up in a never ending curve...we can all take solace that most of use and Drive the type of craft designed and made to take it!....only a fool would push it hard enough ...to find out where the ( His Rig's) limit is!

Maximus I suppose push either beyond a point and it will be a problem. For me, I have a 140 Suzuki which weighs about 186kg and feels light (ish) on the transom, so the 175 Opti at 195kg is only 9kg heavier, even the 200hp motors are only 34kg approx heavier.

However the YouTube video with a 4.5m rib and 150hp yam is probably double the limit of the boat. Strange how Humber show a 6.3 ocean pro in their arctic challenge which has twin 90hps way over the weight limit for the transom of that boat.

I'd have no issue adding 7 kilos to get the opti...34 kilos...(75ibs approx lb!) IS quite a different matter!...and a considerable amount to add to the tear end on that size (and weight) of RIB IMO.
As to the twin set up...It would be interesteing to know if it was a "standard" build Boat?

Humber always had a decent rep in the past...ie early Boats. The more modern ones I'm not really familiar with, though I've heard they cut a few corners these days.
The 4.5m and 150hp is just someone trying to have a laugh!...people HAVE put Rockets on push Bikes too

The Opti doesn’t feel heavy at all even in flight skipping across a swell, and another 15kg for the new Merc 4s 200 is like my 5yr old daughter wet through standing on the transom. She’d not make a blind bit of difference. 3 x 90kg fellas by the console / now that changes things! [emoji1]
