1993? mariner 40hp

Hey I bought a couple of old ex MOD Mariners. I am just not sure what year they are? Any idea of information about them at all? What parts and years are interchangeable? Click image for larger version

go on the brunswick download centre , you can find the model year on there. Is there any numbers and letters still on the leg? if so what are they. Those are good OBMs the RNLI also used that OBM for quite a few years as a short shaft though.

Early 90s. You can check the serial number for the exact age. This are rebadged Yamaha units, so parts from the Yam will fit.

Ok I think they are 1991. My other question to you guys would be I have two. One is seized up but looks really clean. The other looks like crap and is missing a bunch of parts but has good compression. 120 and 125. ??? Might just do a switch around and see what I get. Anything to look out for? Picked them up for 60 euros each so not to worried.

Also I am looking at another running one for sale with a bad leg. I can't figure out what year it is at all.

It's an ex RNLI one looks newer but the someone said it might be a 87? Does not look like an 87. Wondering if the leg I have would fit this one?

Judging by the serial number it looks like an 89 but it looks more like a 96/97 by the badging and cowling.

Well I think I figured it out. Seems like what I was looking at was a 1989 that had been rebadged. It seems to be in really great condition. But I don't really want something that old oh well.

Just keep an eye out I guess when buying used outboards sometimes they are way older then they look.

Looks like they took a Yamaha cowling and put it on but with rebadged newer mariner stickers. Interesting way of making something look new and different. Click image for larger version
