2009 4 Stroke 40 Mariner won’t start!!

Have a 2009 Mariner 4 stroke 40hp that won’t start! Fuel line is fine, bulb is firm, kill switch is in correct position and throttle is in start yet no matter how many times I pull the cord I can’t get it to fire and it won’t even turn over, any hints/tips? Or something obvious I might have missed? It was working fine when I viewed the boat 2 days ago but since being trailed home (circa 350 miles) it won’t even cough! Thanks Matt

You say it won’t even turn over? The pull start doesn’t spin the engine?

Pull start systems have sort of sacrificial parts that break inside causing damage to other stuff. Is the cord coming out and not spinning the engine over?

Apologies my original post didn’t make a great deal of sense, the pull cord does turn the engine over but absolutely no signs of life, I get the tension from the cord and can feel it spinning but nothing happens not even a cough!

Have you had a plug out? If they are wet you’ve got fuel.

Can also check the spark when you have the plug out, that’ll give you a direction to diagnose further.

I'm sure you've checked but sometimes the kill cord isn't quite fitted properly, I'd check it first, sounds electrical to me if it was running 2 days ago and you can't even get it to fire now.
