20hp outboard on Honwave t40
I need a new prop for my 20hp 4 stroke outboard, if I go up a pitch from standard prop it came with would it give me a higher top speed or would it be geared too high as such and make things worse.
I don’t know what WOT revs I’m doing as don’t have the gear to find out

And there's the problem - we need this info.
You'll need to know the current WOT revs and the recommended max rev for your engine. After that, prop decisions will be relatively simple...

alex
rise in top speed will be minimal i have 10,11,12 for my suzuki 11 being the standard
i use the 10 more than the other two because i have more response from the engine 25HP keeping it on the plane in the rough. speed wise there's 2 knots difference between them with my set up revs increase decrease between 150-200 rpm per inch of pitch i'm up at 5800 ish rpm with the 10 and she will cruise at around 15 knots tops out at 20 knots with flat water

Have you experimented with four blade instead of 3? Maybe a four blade 11 Would work well?

The OP might struggle to find a 4blader in such a small pitch, they’re few & far between. Steel developments have a couple of 10”, but it depends on the gearcase.

Standard prop on the 2018 Honda 20hp is 4 blade.... I’ll check what pitch is standard when I’m home.

if you read this link it answers most questions, as dave says you might struggle to find a four blade although these might have them but you'll lose top end speed with one more for weight towing toys etc
for the OP the increase in pitch could be the straw that breaks the donkeys back but only he will know what performance he's getting OMO if it works with an 11 pitch i would stick with it or maybe go stainless steel youll get about a 5% extra performance out of one, but then some dont like stainless because it can cause more damage than aluminium if you hit something
