2st outboards

Hi has anybody got one of the Vector 9.9hp outboard 2st , I have been looking for a new outboard but since im a newbie at SIB game it can be a bit of a headache, I have been suggested a Tohatsu 9.8 4st.

But I do like 2st injuins certainly if they sound well , be good if I could run it of Castrol R , As I still have gallons from bike racing days.

Are the 2st good on fuel as a 4st ?

mark

I thought all the Vector outboards were 4 strokes ?

Lots of advantages for a 2 stroke over a 4 stroke on a small sib (try a forum search if you have a couple of days spare)

A 2 stroke will use more fuel than a 4 stroke but at the size you are looking at the difference is irrelevant.

Tohatsu's are excellent engines, but its the 2 stroke 9.8 you want, not the 4 stroke.

Not personally had anything to do with the vector outboards but read a couple of tests & they dont perform as well as other engines marked as the same hp
They are chinese built so id suspect poor build quality not what you realy want in an out board personally id avoid and stick with one of the established builders

Stick to TCW-3 compliant oils such as Yamlube, Quicksilver, etc.

Don't use 2 strokes bike oils, are different than 2 strokes outboard oil, will ruin your engine in a very short time...

Happy Boating
