No I meant even seeing them in the distance...thinking of our little trip from Alderney aboard the Lyas' craft ...everything looked toy size & there was a great loneliness about the sea...
Zeb's better for hopping around the coast ....

Absolutely agree with the Jackeens..
little boats = little trips,
big boats = big trips
Which brings the question when does a little boat become a big boat?
with AP at the helm!!!

Good for you JW. I'm quite frightened of the sea deep down...maybe it's deep rooted...the wild Atlantic around Irish coasts wasn't always friendly...

Pete, there's another factor that you may want to take into consideration when choosing between 300hpdi and 250vmax and that's the availability of different shaft lengths. The 250Vmax (Z250FETOL) is only available with long shaft (20").
The 300hpdi is available as: Z300AETOX=Ultra Long (25"); Z300AETOU=Super Ultra Long (30"). I suspect that Ultra-long would be appropriate for a Scorpion 8.1 but check with Graham.

Z300AETOX is extra long not ultra long or are you using ultra instead of extra in UK?

Yamaha's current brochure calls X Ultra-Long. 25" anyway (635mm) that's the important bit!

Thanks guys for bring the shaft length to my attention. I had noticed that the VMAX was only available with a 20” inch shaft and the 300HPDI with 25” or 30” inch shaft. I am assuming that the leg I require is a 25” inch one as that is the only leg length for the 200HPDI and that is what you have on the back of yours Richard. So I think that rules out the VMAX. But I will check with Graham at Scorpion.

Pmorgan,

Mercury Verado
I wondered when someone would mention this!
I think you will find that it is only now going into mass production and is intended to be available for the 2005 model year. Probably worth checking though, as it might perhaps be available sooner in the U.S.
Still, it does sound a phenomenal engine!!!
It will interesting to see how it develops - I'm sure I read somewhere that it had been tested up to 400HP, although 275hp is the max today.
Chris.

Hi Chris!
Yes, whilst the Verado range looks interesting, they are a heavy engine and it's new technology. I wouldn't like to be the first to purchase one!
