70's 4hp BloodyRude spare coils needed!
Anyone got an old permanent drive johnson/evinrude 4hp lying about that's got a good set of coils? My auxilary's coils have died and the parts don't seem to be available anymore.
It's in pretty good mechanical condition so I really don't want to chuck it in the bin!

Cheers ADS but
I wouldn't pi55 on them if they were on fire after the way they spoke to me when I rang up looking for a 2nd hand engine... Heard an awful lot of bad stuff about them recently too.

Had the same experience as you mate, not very customer focused and they mess you about, although they do appear to have an awful lot of spares......maybe a last option

'glad' I'm not the only one!
I can get the coils new from the USA-Sierra make them still....but I've got to persuade them to send them over and it's not easy in the slightest.

Iam no outboard expert but wouldn't a motorcycle coil do the job. There are lots of bike coils available to suit just about everything out there. Could maybe help you with some info if you have the spec for the coil.

Unfortunately not-the coil is part of the stator plate under the flywheel and it generates its own power via a magnet in the flywheel.
