Ouch. Not cheap, are they?

Worth firing out emails to Yammie dealers in the UK. You never know, they might be breaking one and there’s one sitting on the shelf.

Yeah seen them too bit more of a leap of faith I guess. Had a guy repair a control box on my van years ago. Geeky guy who had a shed full of bits in his shed. Did the trick for £40 though[emoji846]

Yeh to the right geek this is probably fairly basic stuff compared to modern engine management systems but its just black magic to us mere mortals [emoji2357]
David Anderson has the same engine so I'm going to run the boat over to Dundee & try swapping bits over, its lost spark on no2 cylinder, we don't think anything else can cause 1 cylinder to go down but at least we can verify first.

I may have one, I can check early next week if that helps? Failing that Inland Inflatables in Sligo would be worth a shout, Ronan, he’s a Yamaha dealer and has broken a good few engines over the years.

Cheers, Gerry

Hi Ken, looks like there’s one here but it’s on a customer powerhead that’s been sitting on the bench, he’s talking about rebuilding but honestly it’s here quite a while. I’ll give him a shout today and see will he sell it. If you PM me a number I’ll WhatsApp a couple of pics of it to you tomorrow, I’m away today.

I have recently bought a switch box and stator for my dive clubs 115 hp 2 st from marine engine room on Hayling island, Tim is super to deal with extremely helpful and supplies new CDI parts from the states, the us forums say they are better that the Oem parts. I have always used him and he has never let us down.

Good luck dsve

^^^Think he's already tried them without success.

That said, I've just had some parts from him & very impressed with the rapid service.

Hi Dave sorry for late reply I was waiting for Davie Anderson, he loaned me a cdi to get the engine away. He wasnt sure if he wanted me to replace it or just pay him for it, I actually spoke to him yesterday regarding something else but it prompted him to decide I just need to pay him for it as he has another for the engine we robbed it from.
Thanks very much for the offer & thanks everyone else who replied but its all sorted now.
Cheers

No worries about the reply,

What was interesting about our switch box replacement, it failed, we bought another replaced it and it ran well for a day and then the motor just stopped. After a bit of investigation it turned out to be the stator.

Why did the two components fail almost simultaneously, or was it just bad luck, seems a strange affair. Maybe after 27 yrs it’s all wearing out at the same time. We replaced the coils as well. The only major part we didn’t do is the trigger unit, should wr replace that now? How old is your yam, ours is a 1994 engine. Old but Now it’s had its heart transplant it’s super again.
