75hp mercury running problems

Evening All,

I have a 1991 75hp Mercury 2stroke with a running issue. All was fine, had not long been serviced and had run perfectly after the service. Took it too the lake one day and it took a while to fire up. Eventually it did but 7 or 8 minutes later it just died. No coughing or spluttering, just died. It sounded like it had been turned off. It wouldn’t re-start so I loaded her up and went home.

Went to look at her the next day and she fired up immediately, run perfectly for 7 or 8 minutes then died again and wouldn’t re-start. Now in a position to diagnose more I noticed that I had no spark on any cylinder. Disconnected the kill switch to check that but it made no difference. Still no spark on any cylinder. The stator checks out ok and the trigger is new. Is it possible for the switchbox to have an intermittent fault?

I can start it once daily and will always run for 7-8 minutes.

Anything else it could be?

I did yes, I replaced the switchbox but was still the same. Ended up replacing the stator, the wiring had got old and corroded.
