All New 150hp Four Stroke from MERCURY
Just came accross this, New 150hp 4 stroke from Mercury, its a naturally aspirated (no super charger) 4 cyl in-line with a displacement of 3.0 litres, the largest in its class, produces 164.9hp it has a single over head cam with just 2 large valves per cylinder to save on weight. It has an timing chain that needs no maintenance and weighs in at only 205kgs. Its conventional control cables to keep costs down. Saw these early pre-order prices in america, which look promising
150L EFI 4S MERCURY$9,700
150XL EFI 4S MERCURY$9,750
150CXL EFI 4S MERCURY$10,125
Looks like it would have the potential to be tweaked to 200hp in the future, which would be lighter than any 200hp outboard in a long time! Heres the links i saw
Heres a link to a magazine article on the new engine---

Yeap, Its was called Project Bedrock, was looking at this a few years ago with the Engineers from the states. It going to fill a hole for people who want a less complicated engine than the Verado. There will be more engines in the line up... Watch this space!

If the specs are out there, it's not obvious.

Piston speed is the linear distance the piston travels within the bore of the cylinder per unit of time.
Usually expressed as a mean piston speed, as the piston goes from max velocity at the middle of the stroke to completely stopped at either extreme.
MPS = 2*(stroke length)*RPM/60
2 times stroke, as the piston cycles twice per crankshaft rpm. RPM/60 to convert minutes to seconds. Result will be in stroke measurement units per second.

Yeap, the Verado retail price is about £16,500.00. Although with the Verado you get the whole world with it. Including Hydraulic steering system and batteries etc.
Dont forget if you want to order one!!( Ha Ha ) Ribnet members get big discounts!!
