Alternative to discontinued coil?

The ignition coil on my (ca) 1990 Tohatsu 9.9 B has decided to quit.

Struggling to find the original part no. 362-06050-0 (coil) - any advise on which part I could use as substitute?

Thanks

The seller can be a bit ermm… but you have the protection of Ebay and it's not a lot of money...

Cheers! Will give this a go i believe. If that would not work out - what could be an alternative - talked to the local (DK) importer an they did not really part with any knowledge...

OP - be extremely careful in your dealing with this individual - he has a very long history of not fulfilling his promises. Clearly he has good feedback on ebay and so may have turned over a new leaf, but still - read this and proceed with caution.

Oh...wow - That is a quite interesting example of bad branding. thanks.

Well, might have to look for alternatives to this source. Issue is that I have not found an alternative yet (neither source nor product). Found something in Singapore but EU import and DK tax ... not attractive.

Know why you are doing that Willk because of his long history but I did think it through very carefully re risk vs reward.

Ebay is so much on the side of the buyer these days if it doesn't arrive it's an easy money back process at this price level which the seller can't stop and I'd think it's probably worth the risk of slow delivery if it's the only hope of rescuing a dead OB.

Given he's an official Tohatsu dealer these days doubt he'll be too much trouble over a £40 item and his Ebay feedback of the past year only gives a 0.5% of having any problems.

Yes, me too. That said, you and I both know the score - OP didn't. There are still ways that the OP could be "inconvenienced" and Ebay would shrug it's collective shoulders. Part arrives - doesn't look new - gets fitted, doesn't work, gets returned, seller claims substitution has taken place, bla bla bla...

Equally - he might send a part at the bargain price listed and the OBM could be fixed just like that. Personally, given the history, I'd make the purchase if no other unit was available on the planet...

Yep exactly and I'd personally go into it with the view it was worth the £40 risk to get the OB running... after all that's only a Saturday night Chinese takeaway cost and there's nothing to show for that by Sunday morning... well apart from a load of trays to sort your nuts, bolts and screws into!
