Anybody know this broker ?

Hi am looking for a new engine and my eye fell on this one http://www.boatsandoutboards.com/view/OAB347/

Now I am kind of scared of buying a second hand engine since my previuos engine gave me nothing than problems, but a new one is kind of much money for just some cruising in the summer.
Therefor is there anybody here that knows this company and their reputation ??

they do offer warranty but I would use this engine here in Belgium so there go's the warranty...

Thanks in advance,
Stef

He sells on Ebay. I think he's quite small-maybe working from his home as he rarely sells a lot at once.

It may be worth while looking at Ebay in the USA - the $ is very weak at the moment so you can save loads. Just watch out for shipping and duty etc.

Yes indeedy, after all if you are nervous about buying an outboard sight unseen from a bloke in another country in Europe, you'll really be up for doing even more sight unseen from across the Atlantic.

What is weird that I noticed another add for the same engine in the Netherlands and they use the same photo's ... only big price difference.
Could this be a scam ??

i contacxted the bloke about this engine 2 months ago, he sounded vague, he said he got the engine from a long time customer, i said to him great it comes with all the docs then????
he said, he couldnt get hold of any docs or receipts of any type,
i said well if you know the previous owner of the engine, maybe you could ask him for any paperwork??
and i need to see that is has a full service history!!!
he replied, sold as seen, the best price i got from him before i learnt all this was £2700,
for protection i was going to pay by credit card,
He said cant do that as he only deals in cash.
i walked away, ended up with a older Yam 85, full history and docs, only been in fresh water, (and it shows) for £1200, !!
it sounds a trifle dodgy!

Only just seen this thread so sorry for the delay. I bought a Yammie 50 EPTO from him last season. Although the engine was old it ran really well, and he'd given it a full service. Assume it is still running well but don't know as I've now sold the boat.

He runs his business from the garage next to his home, but its PACKED FULL of outboards - the full range of sizes. You can also find him at a number of the boat jumbles.

HTH

Andrew
