Auxiliary Motor Mount

I need a non-transom mount for my auxiliary motor - I'd like to be able to store it securely onboard the boat, lying down. Has anyone got any pictures, inspiration, or even links to products that I can use for ideas and inspiration please.

Thank you.

RIBase
Any pictures of the internal layout of your RIB Matt?

Oh to have 7m. I’m tripping over ropes and a tender on my 4.8m wishing I could win the jackpot on the premium bonds and pump the winnings into an Orkney 20’ with wheelhouse with electric windscreen wiper!

Any reason to have the auxilliary lying flat? Also depends what the auxilliary is, 2-stroke, 4-stroke? I’ve seen them stored in front of the console on a few RIBs with plates on the deck for the skeg to sit on. You could probably get something fabricated.

If you need to deploy in emergency, how will this work?

It’s actually for the hardboat. I have a transom bracket, but the aux gets pretty beaten up on it when I’m running quick so want something a bit more sturdy to store it in the engine bay in normal running.

Stored our auxiliary onboard on a simple timber block bolted to the transom knee through the drain hole. Rock solid, never budged whatever the conditions. Only a 3.5hp so easy to deploy when needed.

Just the type of idea I’m looking for, thanks.
Mines a 5. Bit small really, but can’t find a decent tohatsu 9.8 2 stroke to replace it with.

Just looking at your pic. For some reason I was wanting the engine to be mounted “down”, but as per your pic, no reason to not have it tilted. Time to draw up and cut some nice stainless brackets etc…

There is a thread somewhere on this board with pictures showing other outboard mounts inside the boat.

So I've gone with one of these plastic osculati things in the end.

It's not quite the one I wanted - ideally I wanted the wooden non-osculati one as you can adjust it bit but there's no stock in the UK of them - so will see if the osculati one fits and if it doesn't, I'll have to make with brackets like the wooden one in the pic.
