Hi All,
Recently put my boat through refit, including repower.
http://rib.net/forum/showthread.php?t=27082
Last Week Tested 3 prop types all 17" being
SST, Viper and the new 4 blade Rogue
Findings below
I adjusted load, and in .5m at WOT
Viper -
Rides Bow Up. No Room to Trim up, had to keep it in.
Mid Range - Have to keep the Revs Up hight to maintain minimum Plane Speed.
SST -
Best Prop to Suit. Plenty of Trim Range.
Mid Range Better than Viper, brought down a few hundred Revs to plane.
I reckon this will zoom zoom zoom on a flat calm day.
Rogue -
Similar to the SST - more Trim Range than the SST
Mid Range - No real Difference to the SST, maybe 100rpm below SST for
minimum plane.
Out of Hole REAL ordinary compared to the Viper and SST.
Top End Similar to the SST, possibly a bit more speed.
Note: On my setup I was expecting a couple hundred of extra revs from the SST compared to the Viper, but it did not show. The 17" seems a good fit. I was expecting to have to go to the 19" to bring the revs back a couple of hundred. I was expecting the 17" to bring me upto 5400 at WOT.
Only concern Is when I drop a lot of the weight that I was carrying for the test. It reflected equivalant of 4 Divers and Kit, but there will be times when carrying a lot less than that. so It may rev up to 5400-5500rpm or there-abouts on those occassions at WOT.
AT WOT, all were within a couple of kms of each other. All in the high 60kmh range.
On A Flat day I expect the SST or the Rogue would bring me over 70kph.
My view is that the Rogue are not offering as much as I hoped and therefore the tired but proven SST wins out, + I don't cough up the difference in $$.
For everyones information.
