Just bought an Aerotec 420 wondering about best engine new or secondhand.

What sort of load/how many folks? Trailer or daily inflate? If daily inflate are you average or really strong re carrying OB? New/used... you must have a preference... do you home service or value a warranty? Budget open ended or restricted?

Depending on answer to above something in the 15hp-25hp range.

My experience with an Aerotec is that the hull... unsurprisingly given its profile... is a little draggy compared to most other SIBs so ideally a larger OB helps get the best from its sea keeping abilities.

Hi
We live on the shore so I will keep it inflated in the drive and roll it down with the engine fitted.
Really just curious on the best or notable 2 strokes at the 25hp size.
I will likely service it myself along with the smaller ones I own.

With that use up 25hp would be fine to handle. One of the last of the 25hp 2-strokes (2006 ish) of any major brand would be fine... Mercury/Mariner, Yamaha etc.

If you fancied new the 3cyl Suzuki 25hp seems a good motor... at least a couple of forum members have them. Quite heavy at 62kg and to keep up the 5yr warranty dealer servicing needed.

The new Yamaha 25hp is lighter at 57kg but only a 2cyl.
