Was having a few problems with my 10hp Mercury.
I'd already checked a couple of things but Rob advised the choke injected fuel after the carb and if it ran right whilst pumping the choke it would point to the carb.
He was right and after having the carb ultrasonically cleaned the engine has been fine.

My mate who has a bike garage stripped and cleaned it, he couldn't see anything wrong with it but 30mins in the cleaner at 85 degrees did the trick.
Handy things them ultrasonic baths!
