Boatsandoutboards Scam?

LINK

I've emailed the seller and they confirmed the price is correct. Their grammer wasn't the best which is usually the first sign of a scam.

B&O's own advice page says "If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is!"

What do you guys reckon? Is it just me or is it too good to be true?

Just ask them when/where you can come to inspect the engines... that normally sorts the wheat from the chaff. Prepare for either elaborate excuses as to why you can't view them... or complete radio silence!

Good idea, trouble is if they are genuine then they will think I'm the timewaster, I'm in Jersey so not so simple to go have a nose!

And how did they come up with the figure £2012 ?? Strange!

Now that you have pointed that out, I've noticed that loads of the adverts for outboards say diesel, must be some reason for that

Yeah, these 'motors' belong to a friend of mine and run 'great'. Just kidding. Total scam, the give away is usually the american terminology. In the UK we don't have 'motors' we have engines and they don't run 'great', they run well. As usual it's a 'copy and paste' job from an old genuine yank ad.

Reply to my second email pretty much confirms it:

Hello,
sorry i just sell the engines without props and controls. They are in very very good condition, no corrosion, ready to boat.
Currently the engine is in Sumatera Island right now, i save it in storage. You can come to see and pay cash for it or i can ship it to your location. Let me know your current location provide zip/postal code so i could calculate the shipping cost.

I think I might play them at their own game, send them a dud cheque for more than the value of the motors and ask for a refund of the difference!
These people wind me right up

I wouldn't. if you do that you'll be giving them your name and bank account number.

Nice of them to admit they are in Indonesia though!

I decided against the idea, however his inbox should be filling up quite nicely as we speak. He'll never want for gay porn and discount viagra for some time to come.
