Break in question

Hi there. Im gonna be using my brand new 4.3 metre SIB tomorrow wit a brand new Merc 2 stroke 25hp. I have read the manual thoroughly but im not sure that is how i should break the engine in. It says use twice the oil ratio and to always swtich speeds and to try to avoid full throttle for the first hour.

Ive heard other things like that you should let your engine idle for the first 10 minutes, etc.

Any suggestions? Or should i just stick with running it at different speeds?

You should know what I have once heard what they do with new engines before they leave the factory.
Just use it but no full throtlle in the first hour. I would say max 75%.

The correct run in procedure for a merc/mariner outboard is as follows:

Use double for the first tank full.
Avoid long periods of idle and full throttle for the first 10hrs.
Constantly vary the engine speed using anything up to 3/4 throttle. Avoid long periods at the same speed.
After the first 10hrs use short periods of full throttle (2-5mins every 15mins).

After 20hrs or 3 months return engine to dealer for its 1st service.
