Budget Used Outboard 40-60hp

Hello everyone.
I'm after a used outboard for some ribbing fun next summer. Minimum 40hp max about 60 for a 5m RIB. I'm on a budget so it'll be quite an old 2-stroke. Is there anything in the 40-60hp range that stands out for reliability?

I have a Mercury 60hp. 3 cylinder autolube power trim and tilt with controls and gauges. 2000 model year, we supplied and fitted it and have looked after it from new. Excellent condition engine. £1950

A Yammie (50G or 40V) outboard are true workhorses, solid construction, and worth their weight in gold. I'm also a fan of Tohatsu. The M60 model comes up occasionally for sale, so I'll keep a look out.

As with any used outboard, I would want to see receipts and lots of them. Compression test is essential. Start it from cold to see idle turnover, tell-tale water flow, plus check trim and tilt is working. You can service with new plugs, gear oil, impeller and lube nipple points.

Price-wise, expect to pay at least £2k for something decent.
