Changing prop - Johnson 115
Hi all, I had an old Johnson V4 120 with a 13 1/4 x 19 prop. I changed last summer to a year 2000 Johnson 115 Ocean Pro with a 15 x 17. While much smoother, it has noticeably less grunt at the bottom end (particularly pulling skiiers out of the water). I haven't got a tacho (though could get a detachable one if absolutely necessary) so don't know revs at WOT but wondered whether anyone knew if Johnson gearboxes have changed much over the years or whether I could just go back to the old size prop? Any wisdom? Thanks!
