Cleaning salt deposits

I recently got back Into keeping marine fish part of the process was to clean dead dry rock for my aquascape did some reaserch and along with vinegar & other less desirable stuff CITRIC ACID is used I mixed 1 kg in a plastic dust bin cost £4.50 + post in two hours the rock just needed a jet wash to be totally clean rinse off with clean water I used reverse osmosis water ( no contaminants) for the tank but ordinary water is ok for other stuff. I also put a piece of unprotected aliminium in and left for two weeks with no staining or corrosion plus a brick layers trowel full of concrete for a week all the concrete completely off. It's safe to use bio degradable made from fruit and some vegetables. For anyone with an outboard with blocked or semi blocked waterways soaking or running through the engine ideal. Salt away uses citric acid for info but buying this way it's cheaper and for stubbern stuff stronger solutions can be used.
Wilco stores sell it on the home brew shelf too.

I use citric acid in the ultrasonic bath for cleaning diving kit, good stuff & cheap. Kettle descaler is the same stuff.

vacuum flasks too dave they also clean the aquarium pumps too with it so certainly giving it a spin round the engine wont do any harm, i did do a concentrated mix on a piece of rock left it for 24 hours & it dissolved the rock.
