converting merc 2 stroke 30/40

Anyone ever convert a 30hp to 40 hp on a 2000 merc? good idea-bad idea, or maybe just buy the bigger motor or maybe not even that big of a difference and a waste of time and money all together?

Will be able to convert if both blocks share same excat CC along checking and replacing with a Parts Manual which ones differes from each other to swap. Will need to check the time advance tech specs as the higher HP usually works with more timing advance to compensate the more fuel intake of the 40. If possible to convert will be an costly HP upgrade for sure...

Can better the water performance of the 30 HP going for a spot on prop maximization installing less pitch props from current one to pull wot rpm up towards its max wot rpm range factory stated. Will need an induction tach to check max wot rpm achieved as usually loaded and check if the motor at least runs towards its middle wot rpm range..

Happy Boating
