Cost of Winterising Evinrude ETEC 200HO

I'm being quoted £303+VAT to winterise my 2015 ETEC 200HO with about 70hrs. This also includes a gearbox oil change, grease and lube and I assume an ECU software update.

I realise that the full service interval is 300 hrs, but thought £300 is expensive- any thoughts?

I thought you just pressed the ‘winterise’ button on Etec’s and the motor does it’s magic. Also thought they were on a three year/300hr service schedule?

That's the conclusion I'm coming to as well, and the gear box oil change isn't too difficult either. Will this impact the warranty though - it's just having its ECU changed under warranty so don't want to jeopardise this going forward - still got 3 years left!

Changing the gearbox oil isn't part of winterising. I would remove the prop, check the oil seal for fishing line etc. Grease the prop shaft. Remove the bottom gearbox oil plug & check for water & particles on the magnetic plug. Then run the auto winterising sequence. Stick a maintenance battery charger on & put her to bed. I used to use fuel conditioner in mine & put a double dose through for winter storage.

If it’s 2015 are you not being quoted for the first (3yr service)?

I'll ask but pretty sure just to winterise. I'm thinking I'll just use the auto winterise option!

Johnny

I think you should find a better service agent. This level of service is not good enough. There's about fifteen minutes work in what you listed

Always do this sort of work yourself. Not only do you save a shed load of money you learn a lot about your engine which makes it a less scary beast
