DT200EFI Worth?

I’m going to be replacing the DT200EFI on my RIB with the 225 Optimax I’ve purchased, so will need to move the DT on, but don’t have a clue what it’s worth.

I know this looks like an advert, but I’m genuinely after some indication of what it’s worth before offering it for sale. As you can imagine I need to offset as much of the cost of the 225 Opti as possible by selling this.

It’s still on the boat at the moment, but has 3yr old fuel in it and I haven’t tried to start it as I’d want to mist some 2-stroke oil down the plug holes etc before trying.

It’s a 1997 XL shaft DT200EFI and hasn’t been run now for @2yrs.
Before that it was running well, but I did have a comment from a friend following me that there was a distinct smell of unburnt fuel.
On my heavy commercial hull 6.5M RIB it would use @1.5l/nm at @25Knots, which is very reasonable, but as it’s an older tech engine further up the rev range usage is obviously worse than a newer engine. At WOT @42-45Knots it was as best I can tell using @3-3.5nm

I looked after it well until 2.5yrs ago when personal circumstances meant I wasn’t well enough to devote any energy to it. It had a new pump impellor and gearbox oil change every other year despite sometimes only being used over a few summer weekends and for 2 weeks in Devon each year.
Around 8yrs ago I completely rebuilt and fitted a load of new parts into the gearbox.

I had the hood wrapped a few years ago when all the red bits of the decals had faded, but now wished I hadn’t. The wrap was damaged so I started peeling it off and a lot of paint has come off with it.

It will come with the 21P prop shown, a top mount throttle assembly, main wiring loom, plus Suzuki oil level/multi gauge.

Can anyone help with what it’s worth?

Thanks

Nasher.

I don't know.

But I sold a 60hp Mariner from the same era as your engine on Ebay.

I tried to buy the boat without the Mariner as I saw it as something valueless that I had to buy if I wanted the boat - which I did.

I then started to think may be I'd get £500 for it.

It sold for £1400.00, I was delighted and absolutely amazed.

I bought the rig from a guy on Ribnet, he said that would happen and he was right.

Old two strokes do have a following.

Thanks Ribtecer

I've asked the same question on the dark side - Boatmad - as I think it will be of more interest on there.

Il be honest with you chief, these big old bruisers don't fetch much nowadays so don't be offended with low ball offers, the running costs scare a lot of people off. Even a conservative 2l/nm is enough to make anyone wince.

Its a shame too because these and the Yamaha 4&6 cyl engines were real solid engines.

Don't worry A1an, I'm not expecting it to be worth a lot.

I've already had an offer by PM for more than i thought, which sort of justifies me asking the question.
But I'm not accepting anything at the moment, that wasn't the point of this thread.

It won't be off the boat for a while, and i might even try to get it running.

Point raised earlier about mid-range 2-strokes (50-70hp). Definitely a market for them, which is part of the reason they hold their price, especially when you consider used 4-strokes of equivalent horsepower tend to stick with the boats.

Bill Higham has a 1997 Mercury 150hp EFI 2-stroke for £4k.

Think your engine Nasher will suit someone who needs to re-power their boat (it's XL shaft too) but doesn't want to break the bank. At the end of the day the money they save on buying it will be going towards fuel bills.

Are you considering repainting it? Can you get the decal set for it? The decals if you can get them will be £100 or so.

I don't know how Highwayman sells half the engines he does, he always seems to be extortionate.
