early 1970s Johnson 20/25 - Water pipe fixing?

Hello.

Dr Frankenstein here..... Once again I am mating a pile of prehistoric bits to get a hopefully working 20Hp for my SIB.

So, I have a sizeable chunk of powerhead / le form an old (late 60s) Johnson 20 (the one with the curved front to the lower tray).

In a fit of laziness I an trying to avoid having to split the leg form the powerhead / tray - can anyone confirm (as I am going cross eyed on Boatinfo.no) - is the water pipe screwed in at the top or some form of compression type fitting?

thanks.
