EBAY Gamble
Just took a gamble on, and won, this very badly described auction.
It's very local to me, and I can just pop round with the cash and collect it.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
What do you reckon?
Big gamble, or worth the risk?
Whatever it is it's got to be worth more than £56 if it works.
The very brief description does say GWO, so if it doesn't I'll have a moan.
I'll let you all know how I get on.
Nasher.

So it could be a 2hp 50's motor right up to a 250hp 2009 model. Its like the lottery wondering if your number has come up, or not!

Good gamble. Even if it's a 1970s 2hp and it runs, it's going to be a good buy.
Betcha it's an old aircooled P65.

Well no contact from the seller yet despite me contacting him minutes after winning it.
I'm desperate to know what it is now.
I'm assuming it's going to be sub 10HP, and anywhere between 1965 and 1980. With a better description and a photo I'd have to be very unlucky not to get the £56 back.
Unless it's really old, interesting, and will polish up nicely, then Mrs Nasher will have a new 'Feature' hanging on the wall of the landing
Nasher.

I got an old motor off Ebay for £30, fired up on the second pull despite not having been run in years and what looked like brown paint in the fuel tank. Then some f***er nicked it a week later before I even got it in the water Lucky white heather anyone...

Still no contact from the seller
I've sent another really polite message asking to arrange collection.

Thanks Nos, didn't know that was available.
It appears he's listed some more items since the engine auction ended, so he must have seen my original request/message.
Interestingly the other auctions are quite 'normal' with an image and reasonable description, not in keeping with the engine auction at all.
Almost as if somebody else raised it.
Ah well, I'll see how it goes.
EDIT
Even more interesting is that the item location has changed for the other items. Emsworth is no longer mentioned.
I don't think I'm ever going to hear from him.
Nasher.

This is all very intriguing!
Wait a day or two then send him a message explaining that because you've not heard from him you're going to open a dispute case though ebay and see what happens

I reckon he's an ebay newbie who hasn't noticed the 'my messages' bit yet and the messages you're sending him are going into his email spam filter.
I've had that happen before. A phone call works wonders.
