Electronic boost control on yamaha diesel

After watching a video on electronic boost controllers on cars I was wondering if the same sort of device could be fitted to our yamaha me422 diesel.

Being a mechanical pump style engine it does have a lot of lag up to around 1800 revs.

Not sure if such a device would help this and I certainly don't want to create more boost but it would be interesting to see the effects.

IMO the short answer would be that it would be of no use unless combined with a different of modified turbo. A smaller pitch prop might help though but probably at the expense of top end end performance.

It bleeds off air from the waste gate to create more boost.

You can get a manual one which just bleeds air from the actuator but an electronic one adjusts itself to the revs so you can bleed off early in the Rev range and have normal operation higher up.

The boat must heavily loaded to have turbo lag. The yams are normally straight out of the blocks compared the Yanmar 6lp

It is only when she's full of diesel and fully loaded with people at the back. Once it get on boost she's away like a rocket.
