Engine age? Yamaha 2 stroke 50hp

Hi

Just joined. Hi all. Have looked at a few threads. Great forum.

I’ve recently bought an Avon sr4 with a yam 50hp 2 stroke. I think it’s a 1988. Thought I’d check with the experts here. My deduction is from the G on the tag but some evidence is 1992. I need to order a lever tilt stop for the bracket which is shot. The two years have different part numbers between years !

50DEO
6H5
L
384643
G. Very light pressed into tag in bottom right corner

Any advice welcome please.

That would suggest to me 1988 as well.

If you want to be absolutely sure you're ordering the right part, email a photo of the serial plate to a Yamaha dealer (BHG and Marinetech are both very active on the spare parts front) and a photo of the part. They're usually very quick to come back with a quote.

Sounds like a nice setup you have. Do you have any photos? Plenty of Searider owners lurking around here!

Hi

Thanks for confirming. I’ll email BHG. Thanks

I can’t upload iPhone photos for some reason. Invalid. Will investigate that tonight.

Refurbishing the boat. All stripped. I’ll load some photos when I work it out ;-)

Cheers

Joe

You’ll need to get a app that converts your photos to PNG. There are a few free ones.

Check your leg casting around the lower shockmount housing. Corrosion weakpoint on those.
