Engine alarm coming on Mariner 60 fourstroke

Hi I am having the engine alarm coming on when I am going fast, I have a good telltale. The water from the telltale is very hot. I know it is supposed to be hot but how hot? You wouldnt hold your hand there too long. The engine is a Mariner 60hp fourstroke EFI, has anyone any ideas before I bring it to someone, thanks.
