Does anyone know anything about the starter on a Yanmar 315HP diesel lump?
For the last couple of months it has been intermittent on starting, but finally gave up the ghost last week. Everything seems to work fine, but when the key goes to start, nothing happens - no click, no nothing. I've gone through the ignition circuit with a multimeter - the starter pulse goes all the way down to the engine - but the engine does nothing!!
I think I've established that it is the starter relay that is bust (engine starts if you take that out of the equation) - do these go wrong often?
It is still under warranty - so I'll be talking to the local Yanmar dealer later (not that I hold out any joy - Barrus still haven't replied to the claim on my gimbal bearing from 4 months ago...
