Engine Monitor/Multi-Display

Hi,
The small round engine monitoring display which has a water and oil alarm together with 2-stroke oil level gauge and rev-limiter alarm is completely silent and blank......

We are talking about a Suzuki DT85 here...1990-ish.

Two main questions:

1. Is this likely to be a fault in the gauge or at the engine end not sending data?

2. Can I run without it or does the engine need some feedback from it?

Cheers,

Orve.

Hi, in my experiance its most likely the wiring to it has a corroded connector, or the display is knackered. Suzuki use basic non tinned looms and crap connectors. The engine should run happily without it, however you'll need to keep a very keen eye on the oil level and tell-tale.

I ran a DT55 without one a few years ago after the Oil level sender unit went down. I hard wired the wiring to Full, binned the sender and sold the multi-display.

Hi.

The wiring diagrams are available on-line from a couple of US sites.
Browns Suzuki rings a bell.

If you get stuck I have a diagram in a workshop manual for a 1980's DT40 that is basically the same, except for the additional ignition companants for the third pot.
