engine set too deep

We have discussed on many occasions the advantage of having the having the engine raised i.e. better speed, better accerlateration, better fuel usage.

Is there any advantage to having the engine set deeper than the optimum?

more down sides that up ,,but one advantage the prop stays in the water that bit better if the sea gets lumpy .
