Yes, but you'll have to find the complete engine number.

There should be a prefix on the silver plug as well, and the full number including prefix should be on a plate on the side of the transom clamp.

your serial number is 09700470 if you google brunswick marine and go onto the download centre find registrations and put your serial number in, provided it has been registered the the date of registration when sold is the age of the obm just to let you and others know the serial number is more important than the age when ordering spare parts

Hi

I'm guessing you have a Mariner 60hp 2 stroke. Looking at the age it's a 1992 year of build in Belgium. The reason your struggling to identify the age is your looking at Yam built Mariner outboards but you have a Mercury built model.

Hope that helps

Peter

I'm sure on the year but not the HP. What HP is it ?

The page you refer to is for Yamaha built Mariner branded outboards. Its complicated but Brunswick (Mercury) originally outsourced production of their first European leisure craft models to Yamaha to "test the water" without damaging their own Mercury reputation (which was specifically excellent in the race engine Market in the USA at the time). These motors were to be badged as Mariner.

If it went wrong....not our fault kind of attitude.

It went great, so thanks Yamaha but were good from here..... Production changed to Belgium (From Japan) and they never looked back.

So to age a Mariner you first need to check if it's Yamaha based (made in Japan) or Merc Based (Made in Belgium. Then you use the relevant age checking database and get the year. Your using a Yam Database which won't work on your engine

The year is 1992. The serial number falls between 09682500 - 09740999 which is the range for all the serial numbers for 1992 motors as shown in the picture. the HP does not change it that much.

I assumed your motor to be a 60hp don't know why. It's either 50hp or 60hp as the 40hp "magnum" models were 4cyl and I don't think that's what you have.

Am I confusing things too much ?
