I thought that they used lump hammers to make the etec judging by some of the posts on the breaking of the saddle on the " Towing and Aircraft rib"

I'm always disappointed with "How it's Made". They go through the motions of showing how stuff is manufactured, but it all magically transforms from raw material to product in between scenes.

If you search, they've done the 'rude outboards, marine propellers (Michigan Wheel, I think), and some cheap inflatable boat (SIB as I recall, but hand glued PVC.)
