Etec, Love-Hate-Love.........?

Whatever one's opinion, I question whether I've could've put anything on the back of our VM7 that would've had as much fizz.
With the 4 blade Cyclone the grip, instant power and throttle response is very, very impressive.

We came out of the Helford river yesterday eve and headed back to Fal into a head 1-2m slightly confused swell. We were cracking along at 30knts+ just playing with it. There was enough in reserve to either launch it of ease it on through. Very satisfying.

I'm not gonna tell anyone that it's the best 250 in the World or to go buy one, but for me, it's bloody great!

To be fair, I get the same feeling with the Opti. I don't reckon there's much between them apart from the Opti sound

Like old Fords. they go faster when they are about to go bang..Etec..And then it stopped because the wind was in the wrong direction or an injector had man flu or the flywheel weights came off or or

Maybe he felt the need to refine his Trolling Technique a touch. Do you think he'll draw any suckers in?

its funny, i had a dig at a guys etec just the other week, which he then started to defend (as i expected!) until his son reminded him of two that they knew of that had blown up, and then they both started talking about the problems they had with theirs, priceless!

I like the Etec as it's quiet but do miss the Opti BARK when it leaves the water

No you don't. You no more hate Etecs than you do Osprey ribs. It's people that you hate and as a part of your hatred of certain people, you seek to rubbish whatever they own. It's an old, obvious and slightly sad forum practice in which you specialise.

Don't worry, none of your targets take it personally, a troubled childhood perhaps?

JV launched our's out of the Helford the other eve, with just him and a mate onboard. I was stood on the Ferryboat pontoon. It sounded pretty good.

You can speak first hand of this can't you Alice.! you know more about me than I'm aware of..I'm sure we were discussing the love hate of Etecs as per the title suggests..

Now lets get back on track and discuss the Love Hate relationship with your chosen engine provider which you initiated.!

Well I will take the bait. My lad has the 25 etec and that's great for him. Bit heavy to pull over and expensive to convert to electric but the power it has, even in a small unit is impressive.

I'm not a huge fan of the bigger ones, although I'd prefer it to an Opti 😝

I bet other people on here have had problems with their particular make of engine during their warranty period .... some major.... and some not.

As for me, I bet that I'm the only Etec owner on here who's transom saddle has broken which was just bad luck as far as I am concerned but, for a small engine pushing a fairly heavy boat it doesn't do too bad

Nothing to add at all - for me too !
I also have a 19 pitch Cyclone on the 250 and each and every time I push the throttle I have a big grin in my face
Only disadvantage on long distance cruising is that I have to carry plenty of XD100 ..
But I am not doing every year a Round Britain

I love mine too. Got a 175 on my humber 6.5 OP
When I push the fast lever, I get a great big smile on my face!
It has a great hole shot, I just love it.
